Overview: Section 43.22 of S.L. 2026‑41 (Senate Bill 257), as amended by Section 11.3 of S.L. 2026‑61, directs the Department of Transportation (DOT) to conduct a study to evaluate each of the statutorily authorized pavement preservation treatments. The study shall address all of the listed criteria.
The DOT must initiate the study within 90 days after July 7, 2026, and report its findings and recommendations for legislative action to the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee and Fiscal Research Division on or before the convening of the 2027 Regular Session of the 2027 General Assembly.
This section became effective July 7, 2026.
