Overview: Section 43.2 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) allocates non-reverting funds appropriated to the Department of Transportation, Construction – Contingency Budget Fund for the 2026‑2027 fiscal year for rural or small urban highway improvements and related transportation enhancements to public roads and public facilities, industrial access roads, railroad infrastructure, and spot safety projects, including pedestrian walkways that enhance highway safety approved by the Secretary of Transportation. This section also requires the Department of Transportation to report to the members of the General Assembly on projects funded in each member's district prior to construction, and report quarterly on the use of these funds to the Joint Legislative Transportation Oversight Committee and the Fiscal Research Division.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
