Overview: Section 9 of S.L. 2026-46 (House Bill 1094) eliminates the requirement that drivers subject to graduated drivers licensing obtain and maintain driving eligibility certificates, which are signed by an appropriate school official and indicate that the student is making appropriate academic progress and is not subject to disciplinary action for certain conduct. This section also repeals statutes that relate to school authorities issuing certificates and notifying the Division of Motor Vehicles when a student becomes ineligible, repeals provisions related to the Division revoking permits and licenses for ineligibility, and further directs the Division to restore licenses revoked due to ineligibility.
This section becomes effective October 1, 2026.
