S257 - 2026 Appropriations Act. (SL 2026-41)

• Authorizes the State Capitol Police (SCP) to contract with State agencies for the creation of receipt-supported positions to provide security services to agency buildings.
• Requires the SCP to report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety no later than September 1 of each fiscal year (i) a list of all positions in the SCP including at least the position type, the agency to which the position is assigned, and the source of the funding for the position and (ii) all terms of the contract for each receipt-supported position.
• Requires the SCP to report within 30 days of the creation of any receipt-supported position to the Fiscal Research Division and the chairs of (i) the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety and (ii) the Senate Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety. The report must include at least information on the position type, the agency to which the position is assigned, the position salary, the total amount of the contract, and the terms of the contract.
