S257 - 2026 Appropriations Act. (SL 2026-41)

Overview: Section 5.10(b) of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257), as amended by Section 1.7(a) of S.L. 2026-61 (House Bill 268), does the following:
- Removes the Secretary of State's membership from the Local Government Commission and replaces the position with a member appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the President Pro Tempore of the Senate.
- Transfers two of the Governor's three appointees as follows:
- One to the General Assembly upon recommendation of the Speaker of the House.
- One to the State Treasurer, subject to confirmation by the General Assembly by joint resolution.
- Provides that the Governor's appointment is subject to confirmation by the General Assembly by joint resolution.
- Clarifies that the members appointed by the Governor, the General Assembly, and the Treasurer are voting members.
This subsection, as amended, became effective August 11, 2026.
