Overview: Section 38.1 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) allows the Department of State Treasurer to elect to be exempted from the Department of Administration's oversight on matters of purchasing, contracts, acquisition and maintenance of real property, and leasing of office space. Any acquisition of real property made by the Department of State Treasurer pursuant to this provision is subject to approval by the Council of State.
This section became effective July 7, 2026, and applies to purchases made, contracts entered into, or other actions taken by the Department of the State Treasurer on or after that date.
