Overview: Part II of S.L. 2026-50 (House Bill 1126) does the following:
- Allows maternity benefits for dependents on the State Health Plan.
- Allows the State Treasurer to make the State Health Plan primary insurance in instances when the administrative cost of coordinating benefits with Medicare exceeds the benefit of coordination.
- Exempts funds used for the operation of the State Health Plan from the requirement that all funds deposited with the State Treasurer remain on deposit until final disbursement to the ultimate payee.
The portion of the part pertaining to maternity benefits for dependents on the State Health Plan became effective on August 6, 2026. The remainder of the part became effective on July 7, 2026.
