Overview: Section 27 of S.L. 2026-46 (House Bill 1094) expands current laws, which require use of native seeds and plants for planting in highway right-of-way and on lands in State parks, to prohibit the planting of invasive species (as determined by the North Carolina Forest Service) in highway right-of-way and on lands in State parks.
This section becomes effective October 1, 2026.
