Overview: Section 9H.3 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) requires the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to submit a report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services if the Division of Public Health of DHHS determines that in six months or less it will no longer be feasible to operate the health insurance premium assistance program within the North Carolina HIV Medication Assistance Program on a cost-neutral basis or in a manner that achieves saving to the State.
The report would be required to include notification of the Division's determination, supporting documentation, and a proposed course of action for the participants in the health insurance premium assistance program.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
