Overview: Section 9H.2 of S.L. 2026-41 (Senate Bill 257) requires the Division of Public Health (DPH), Department of Health and Human Services to report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services and the Fiscal Research Division on recommendations for a plan to establish maternal levels of care and to update neonatal levels of care to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates within the State by April 1, 2027. The plan must be consistent with guidelines of specified organizations, and DPH must consult with specified maternal and infant health stakeholders in the State in developing plan recommendations.
This section became effective July 1, 2026.
