Overview: Section 19 of S.L. 2026-59 (Senate Bill 445) increases the fines for intentional or reckless littering to the following:
Litter Amount/Purpose | New First Violation Fine | New Subsequent Violation Fine |
Less than 10 Pounds | $1,000–$3,000 | $3,000–$5,000 |
10–500 Pounds | $5,000–$10,000 | N/A |
More than 500 Pounds or for Commercial Purpose | $10,000-$15,000 | N/A |
This section becomes effective December 1, 2026, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
